Position Summary

This position provides support and assistance to attorneys and litigation teams in our Anchorage office.  Responsibilities include drafting documents and pleadings, managing document control, and assisting in trial preparation under attorney supervision.  Performs other duties as assigned.  Provides timely, accurate, and reliable data to litigation teams.  Maintains positive interaction with end-users to ensure optimal support and assistance.  This is a full-time position that will require regular and predictable attendance in our Anchorage office. Overtime may be required in periods of high demand. 

Essential Functions
  • Maintain primary responsibility for the organization and maintenance of complex case files and all phases of discovery, including data intake and production tracking logs and maintenance of Defensibility Binder.
  • Maintains advanced knowledge of Firm applications, with an emphasis on litigation and bankruptcy support tools, including but not limited to, Adobe, PACER, iManage, ECF systems, and such other programs that the Firm may acquire to assist with litigation support
  • Performs statistical and factual research, including review of documents and public records, prepare case chronologies, analyze and/or summarize documents, and other factual information related to legal issues. May be involved in review of electronic documents/data.
  • Works with legal teams to provide assistance on all phases of bankruptcy and creditors’ rights litigation, including garnishment, basic creditors’ rights pleadings, bankruptcy pleadings, review of loan documents, and UCC filings.
  • Drafts or creates case related documents and pleadings.
  • Maintains basic knowledge of workflow, process and requirements of Firm’s Managed Service program for eDiscovery, and knowledge of litigation support tools utilized by the program.
  • Coordinate with eDTS Team and attorneys to provide assistance with eDiscovery, including preservation, collection, culling, review, and production of electronic data.
  • Documents and tracks all discovery tasks, including maintenance of Defensibility Binder.
  • Seeks guidance and input from Discovery Services Manager when needed, and keeps team apprised of current workload and issues.
  • Follows all Firm policies and procedures including those related to security, time entry, reporting, and attendance.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in paralegal studies or BA/BS with a Paralegal Certification preferred; Certified eDiscovery Specialist or other eDiscovery certification preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience as a paralegal or similar position.
  • Requires the ability to use standard arithmetical functions; sufficient mathematical ability to prepare and manage a complex budget.
  • Requires the ability to read financial reports, legal documents, and legal reports; prepare and present comprehensive presentations, participate in formal discussions, communicate extemporaneously, and communicate before an audience.
  • Strong verbal, interpersonal, written communication, and customer service skills required. Ability to communicate well with users of different skill levels.
Skills & Abilities
  • Basic knowledge of the Firm’s software applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, and other programs that may be required to perform job functions.
  • Ability to work and communicate professionally in a consultative and collaborative manner, both internally and externally with clients, attorneys, and co-workers. Respond to inquiries quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to write clearly and informatively, and edit work for errors.
  • Make well-reasoned decisions and utilize good judgement by gathering enough information to allow for a trustworthy assessment of risks and benefits. Keeps project and Firm objectives in mind throughout the process.
  • Detail oriented, highly organized, and motivated. Able to work independently and to prioritize incoming jobs.
  • Able to work in stressful situations and under stringent timelines to deliver accurate, timely, work product.
  • Handles sensitive or difficult issues with confidence and professionalism.
Hours / Schedule / Location:
  • 37.5 hours per week / Monday through Friday 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM / Anchorage office
  • This is a full-time, non-exempt position that requires regular and predictable attendance on-site 5 days a week. Overtime may be required during periods of high demand.
  • Infrequent travel may be required for cross-office projects
  • This position reports directly to the Discovery Services Manager
Salary Range:
  • $85,000 - $113,000 annually
Other Compensation:
  • Other compensation may include bonuses, profits sharing, HSA employer contributions, prizes and gifts
