Job Description

The essential function of the position within the organization is to stenographically record court proceedings and produce transcripts. The position is responsible for recording court proceedings, performing research, proofreading and editing recorded proceedings to produce transcripts, and assisting with training of other departmental personnel.

The position works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

Travel is required on occasion to other branch courthouses for the 16th Judicial Circuit.

Salary
  • $6,399.73 - $11,186.20/month
Qualifications

Education Refers to job specific training and education that is recommended for entry into the position. Additional relevant experience may substitute for the recommended educational level on a year-for-year basis.

Associate degree or the equivalent of two years of college or vocational school education in computer operations, medical/legal terminology, court reporting, paralegal, or a closely related field.

Experience Refers to the amount of related work experience that is recommended for entry into the position that would result in reasonable expectation that the person can perform the required tasks. Additional relevant education may substitute for the recommended experience on a year-for-year basis, excluding supervisory experience.

Four years of related work experience.

CERTIFICATION, LICENSE, AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (Refers to professional, state, or federal licenses, certifications, or registrations required/desired to enter the position.)

Requires valid certificate as a Registered Professional Reporter (RPR) or higher, e.g., Certified Real Time Reporter.
