Job Description

The California Supreme Court, located in San Francisco, is accepting applications for the position of Office Technician I or II. This is a limited term temporary position in which funding has been approved until June 30, 2026. Continued employment after this date is contingent upon the approval of additional funding. The individual will be appointed at the level commensurate with their qualifications.

Duties

Under supervision, the Office Technician performs a variety of general office support duties including:

  • Operates postage meter machine; processes mail; sorts and distributes incoming and outgoing mail; delivers large packages.
  • Operates high-volume copiers to produce a variety of documents and reports.
  • Collates materials and stuffs envelopes, scans, files and shreds documents, organizes and maintains records and files.
  • Moves furniture and equipment.
  • Operates a variety of standard and specialized office support equipment, such as electric paper cutter, velobind machine, and digital copiers.
  • Performs a variety of routine and preventive maintenance, such as cleaning copy equipment and changing toner.
  • Replenishes paper and delivers supplies.
  • Conference and courtroom setup.
  • Organizes all work and file/record areas.
  • Vehicle maintenance includes car wash, fueling, and services.
  • Able to lift up to 60 pounds, for items such as office supplies, tables, office equipment, etc., and
  • Other duties assigned.

Working Conditions:

  • Wear specified safety equipment.
  • Work with equipment that requires Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) postings.
  • Must be available to work overtime and on weekends and holidays.
  • Some travel required to other court locations in Los Angeles, Sacramento, and elsewhere in California to support the court’s outreach sessions.
Salary
  • Office Technician I: $3,791 - $4,611 per month

    Office Technician II: $4,169 - $5,070 per month

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Office Technician I:
Equivalent to graduation from high school.

Office Technician II:
Equivalent to graduation from high school and one year of experience in mail processing and production copying.

Knowledge of:

  • Safe operation of a variety of office, mail, and copy equipment, such as high-production copier, postage meter, electric paper cutter, binding machine, and mail/envelope insertion equipment.
  • Basic office practices and procedures.
  • Basic business arithmetic.
  • Basic methods of alphabetic and numeric filing.

Ability to:

  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Safely operate a variety of office support equipment, such as electric paper cutter, binding machine, and mail/envelope insertion equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed.
  • Sort, deliver, and process mail accurately and efficiently.
  • Transport materials weighing up to 60 pounds.
  • Comply with health and safety codes.
  • Organize own work, set priorities, and meet critical deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing, and
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Computer literate in Microsoft applications.
  • Valid California Driver License.
