Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

As our Legal Support Assistant, you will perform various entry-level administrative support duties of limited complexity with established guidelines and procedures within the justice system. You will be responsible for answering phone inquiries, handling case files, and entering case information into our database system.

We Require
One year of experience performing clerical duties
High school diploma or GED
Post-secondary education may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis
We Also Value
Clerical and/or customer service experience in a law office, judicial, or law enforcement environment
Job Contributions
Organize case files for close-out and storage; enter case disposition and close-out information into the Maricopa County Attorney's Office internal database
Enter and retrieve case information from various databases, including the motor vehicle department, justice court database, and superior court database, among others
Maintain a current terminal operator certification with the Department of Public Safety
Provide reception relief/coverage; answer the multi-line telephone - answer general information questions, transfer calls, take messages
Review the electronic minute entry folder; retrieve and distribute electronic pleadings and minute entries
Retrieve and distribute database reminders
Generate notifications as required by Victim Rights statutes
Prepare case for assignment and generate corresponding case-related documents
Working Conditions
Mostly office setting in high volume, fast-paced environment
Requires long periods of sitting while completing computer activities
Ability to travel to and from various county locations for meetings and trainings, utilizing personal or county vehicle
Ability to lift boxes and pull mailcart weighing 25 – 40 pounds
Teleworking is available one day per week after the first six months of employment, subject to business needs
