What the role entails:
TKD is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Landlord-Tenant Paralegal to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have experience in landlord-tenant law, including residential and commercial lease disputes, eviction proceedings, rent regulatory matters, and administrative agency filings. This role requires strong legal research skills, the ability to draft legal documents, and experience managing case files from inception to resolution.
Essential responsibilities include:
- Assist attorneys with all aspects of landlord-tenant litigation, including drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery documents.
- Prepare and file legal documents in state courts, housing courts, and administrative agencies.
- Conduct legal research on landlord-tenant laws, regulations, and case precedents.
- Review and analyze lease agreements, notices, and other real estate-related documents.
- Communicate with clients, court personnel, and opposing counsel regarding case status and procedural requirements.
- Manage case files, maintain accurate case records, and track deadlines to ensure compliance with court schedules.
- Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings, trials, and settlement negotiations.
- Coordinate and oversee service of process, court filings, and other procedural requirements.
- Support attorneys with client intake, initial case assessments, and preparation of demand letters.
- Stay current on changes in landlord-tenant laws and regulations.
Qualifications and skills:
- A minimum of one (1) year experience as a paralegal, preferably in landlord-tenant law.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required, paralegal certificate a plus.
- Knowledge of housing court procedures, eviction processes, and lease agreements.
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Proficiency in legal document preparation and court filing procedures.
- Familiarity with case management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced legal environment.
- Experience handling rent stabilization, rent control, and administrative proceedings is a plus.
- E-filing and L&T portal experience, a plus.

This role is primarily an in-office position with potential for remote work one day per month.

Compensation & benefits:
The good faith base annual salary range for this position is a minimum of $50,000 to a maximum of $70,000. The actual salary rate offered to candidates within that range will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, years of relevant experience, applicable education/certification(s), office location, and the candidate's overall qualifications for the position as assessed by the Firm. Market and Firm factors are also considered.
