THE JOB:

The Privacy Advertising Legal Counsel supports MGM Resorts International by providing legal guidance on privacy, advertising, and non-gaming regulatory matters. This role collaborates with internal teams and outside counsel to ensure compliance with privacy and advertising laws, including AI, text messaging, and digital marketing regulations. Responsibilities include reviewing legal requirements, advising stakeholders, and helping implement policies that align with evolving privacy and advertising standards.

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

• Analyze and review data privacy provisions in contracts, including data processing addendums, vendor agreements, and marketing contracts.

• Respond to privacy and advertising inquiries from regulatory bodies and enforcement officials.

• Work closely with tax, litigation, compliance, and legal teams to address privacy and advertising-related matters.

• Oversee external legal counsel, review invoices, ensure adherence to billing guidelines, and provide updates to insurers as necessary.

• Offer well-reasoned legal counsel to internal business units, ensuring compliance with evolving privacy and advertising regulations.

• Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders, supporting a collaborative legal environment.

• Supervise paralegals and staff, ensuring work assignments align with legal and business priorities.

• Exercise discretion and independent judgment in navigating complex legal issues.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.

• 4+ years of progressively responsible experience in privacy and advertising law, including significant expertise in U.S. and global privacy laws, TCPA, CAN-SPAM Act, telemarketing laws, and promotions-related regulations.

• Strong ability to draft, negotiate, and advise on Data Processing Addendums (DPAs) and other privacy and data security terms.

• Prior experience in in-house counsel preferred, with a proven track record of working cross-functionally with business stakeholders.

• Deep knowledge of legal strategies, regulatory frameworks, and risk mitigation, with the ability to analyze complex legal issues, conduct research, and provide sound recommendations.

• Exceptional analytical, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to translate legal complexities into actionable business strategies.
