Who are we looking for?   

We are looking for a new Junior Paralegal. The primary functions of this role are to deliver support to GHD’s Corporate Paralegal, US, in relation to management of GHD’s North American professional and business licensing portfolio, GHD’s Americas Legal Team in relation to practice and client management, and provide executive assistant support the Americas Legal Team senior staff members as needed.

 Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in: 

  • Monitoring the currency and necessary renewals of the company’s portfolio of professional and specialty licenses and registrations in North America. (E.g., state and provincial engineering, geology, and contracting licenses; municipal, state and provincial registrations) – reporting to Corporate Paralegal, US on this function
  • Supporting succession planning for responsible charges holding various company licenses – reporting to Corporate Paralegal, US on this function.
  • Assisting with licensing research in anticipation of GHD’s expansion of service lines and upon merger and acquisition activities
  • Process law firm invoices and ensure compliance with coding protocols and External Counsel Billing Guidelines.
  • Procure insurance certificates associated with client projects – supporting GHD’s Americas Insurance and Risk professionals on this function. 
  • Facilitate the implementation and ongoing curation of GHD’s Legal Team’s intake, collaboration and archiving technology SAAS platform, Epona. Liaise with SAAS provider to troubleshoot issues. Reporting to Assistant General Counsel, US and General Counsel, Americas on this function.
  • Collaborate with Legal Team regarding identification, adoption and implementation of legal and other technologies to optimize Legal Team client service, collaboration amongst team members, and practice management efficiencies. Reporting to Assistant General Counsel, US, and General Counsel, Americas on this function. 
  • Provide support to individual leaders within the Legal Team including, but not limited to: 
    • Draft, review and send communications
    • Assist with word processing of legal documents and standard form contracts
    • Research projects as assigned
    • Organize and prepare for meetings and attending to logistics of meetings

What you will bring to the team:

  • Two plus years of experience as paralegal or skilled administrative professional, preferably within a professional services environment.  Paralegal certification preferred. 
  • Sound understanding of GHD’s US legal operations, legal project document platforms and systems, legal technology platforms, etc
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a time efficient manner and in certain instances prioritize as between competing tasks for multiple Legal Team members and/or multiple business clients
  • Develop and maintain working capability on company legal, risk and compliance technology platforms
  • Enthusiastic interest in identifying, learning, implementing, curating and troubleshooting technology platforms 
  • Existing working capability on frequently used computer software and programs, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook
  • Time-management and prioritization skills; ability to multitask
