What You’ll Be Serving Up:
You will serve as a force multiplier across the organization by providing your legal expertise, facilitating legal processes, and protecting the brand from litigation risks. Your mission will be to ensure the timely and successful resolution of legal matters by managing responses to legal requests, implementing risk mitigation measures, and optimizing the utilization of external counsel.
Here’s How You’ll Spice Things Up:
Preparing and administering legal responses
- Facilitate effective actions against discovery requests by working closely with KFCC stakeholders and outside counsel to formulate well-informed and compliant responses.
- Ensure timely and accurate legal responses by overseeing actions on third-party subpoenas, franchise-tendered and other litigation-related projects and providing first-line support on discovery, pleadings review, and other attendant litigation documents.
- Support the legal review process by researching legal issues, preparing legal documents, and drafting formal correspondence.
Protecting the brand and mitigating risk
- Fortify the brand against potential and emerging risks by implementing a robust risk mitigation strategy shaped by knowledge from ongoing litigation and current legal issues facing the industry.
- Protect the brand’s reputation by providing your expertise in the preparation of internal and external communications materials, working closely with the Crisis Team as necessary.
Maximizing the value of external resources
- Maximize the impact of external support by sourcing, managing, and evaluating outside counsel on litigation strategy and attendant issues for cases with exposure up to $250k.
- Uphold cost discipline by reviewing invoices and billing of outside counsel, identifying savings and reserving capital for insured matters as necessary.
What You Bring to the Table:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited 4-year university, preferably in Legal studies, Paralegal studies, or a related field; Paralegal certificate preferred.
- Experience:
- 5+ years of experience with a Bachelor’s, 3+ years of experience with a Master’s.
- Experience as a paralegal in a large law firm or fast-paced corporate environment with exposure to litigation preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong team player that contributes to a positive and productive team environment; able to build strong relationships with teammates and stakeholders to deliver on day-to-day mission.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to present effectively.
