Description
The In-House Legal Counsel is a high-visibility position and will provide legal counsel, direction, and services to all Unimed entities. This position has responsibility for all legal and compliance matters and will carry out assignments and representation of the organization with a high degree of independence and integrity.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Advise management on employment, commercial, and corporate legal matters and provide legal guidance and solutions
- Draft, review, prepare, negotiate client, strategic and vendor contracts and advise senior business stakeholders, including sales, finance, procurement and operations, on contract strategy, legal risk and risk mitigation
- Work effectively with sales, finance and business leadership to reach a successful outcome in contract negotiations
- Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations impacting the maritime and medical supply industries, including GDPR, data protection laws, and trade compliance
- Assist with developing legal strategy for the Company
- Work with and manage outside counsel as needed
- Establish and foster good working relationships with regional and global colleagues
- Assist/handle special projects as needed
Requirements
- JD from an ABA accredited law school with solid academic credentials
- State law license in good standing
- Minimum of 4 to 6 years legal experience
- In-house experience preferred
- Previous exposure to maritime industry preferred
- Previous exposure to pharmaceutical industry preferred
- Experience with advising management on legal matters
- Self-motivated and capable of routinely managing work with minimal direction; excellent follow up skills and ability to meet aggressive deadlines
- Ability to draft complex concepts and agreements
- High level of interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
