Job Description

This position provides administrative and legal support for the DCS Protective Services Review Team (PSRT). managing and monitoring court calendar, Additional duties include processing Director’s Decision and Administrative Law Judge’s (ALF) Orders and Certifications. This position will assist in reviewing proposed substantiated findings of abuse/neglect allegations and will be responsible for the entry of substantiated allegations in the DCS Central Registry.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Duties

  • Mails of legal notice to alleged perpetrators. Prepares general legal correspondence, inputs case notes in the database, compiles case records to prepare for closure, creates and/or maintains spreadsheets. Responsible for submitting organizing and submitting, accurate and complete records. Processes appeals, documents appeals received in PSRT database. Initiate necessary requests for documentations from other agencies.
  • Receives/processes orders and decisions from the Director’s Office and Office of Administrative Hearings and provides high level summaries. Serves as a liaison between the Regional Review Specialists and the Assistant Attorney General’s Office, Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH). Prepares exhibit packets for production and redaction completion. Electronically transmits exhibit files to CRCU and the court. Submits requests for hearings.
  • Reviews proposed substantiated abuse/neglect allegations and enters final findings to place perpetrators on the DCS Central Registry. Serves as a lead for other legal assistants.
  • Answers telephone calls and refers to appropriate area, maintains filing systems and processes mail. Assists with the ordering of team supplies and team activities.
  • Other duties as assigned as related to the position.

Qualifications

  • Principles and practices of administration and management; organizational structure
  • The concepts, terminology, principals, and procedures of American Law
  • Basic office equipment and computer programs such as Microsoft Office Programs, Excel, Outlook and Word
  • Arizona Revised Statutes
  • Arizona Administrative Code

The selected candidate will possess an AA Degree and a paralegal certification OR; AA Degree with two years for paralegal/legal assistant experience OR; Four years of paralegal/legal assistant experience.

The ability to secure and maintain clearance from the DCS Central Registry.

This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, then the following requirements apply: Driver’s License Requirements.
