Position Overview

The RFE Legal Clerk Team Lead is responsible for overseeing a team of RFE Legal Clerks that handle all documents received from USCIS that require further action after the initial submission of the case. This individual has a proven track record of operating efficiently and maintaining high quality standards and has the ability to manage a team of RFE Legal Clerks by providing training, guidance, and performance management. Additionally, this individual should drive the team to meet deadlines and client expectations. This candidate must be fluent in English, both speaking and writing, bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor a team of RFE Legal Clerks by providing guidance, support, performance management, and payroll to ensure high levels of productivity and morale
  • Oversee and support team member’s training and development
  • Track key performance indicators (KPI’s) for the RFE Legal Clerk team and report back to the team on strengths and areas of opportunity
  • Facilitate team meetings to review questions and any process updates
  • Lead team members to follow standard processes and adhere to necessary deadlines when handling RFE information for clients
  • Review forms being submitted by RFE Legal Clerks to ensure they are complete and accurate prior to submitting to attorney for review
  • Serve as the primary point of escalation for complex issue or questions, ensuring timely and effective solutions for clients

Essential Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Possesses excellent English interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, bilingual (Spanish) preferred
  • High level of organizational and multitasking skills to ensure deadlines are being met for clients
  • Ability to analyze complex issues and propose effective solutions
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, collaborating closely with attorneys and other support staff
  • Ability to take initiative, learn new tasks quickly, and adapt to changing situations

Minimum Qualifications

  • Highschool diploma or equivalent experience required; Associate’s degree or legal certification preferred
  • Prior experience in an immigration legal environment, law office, or administrative setting required
  • Previous leadership experience preferred
  • Familiarity with USCIS procedures and documentation required
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
