Job Description

Gilchrist Global Strategies has a great job opportunity to work as a Senior Paralegal supporting the work performed by the Department of Justice, Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Section (MLARS). You will assist MLARS Trial Attorneys with case investigation, preparation of legal documents, research, and preparation for trial by:


Responsibilities/Duties

  • Scanning hard copy case materials.
  • Bate stamping using Adobe for softcopy and occasionally Bate machines for hardcopy.
  • Conducting legal research using Westlaw, Lexis-Nexis.
  • Performing electronic case filing using Pacer.
  • Preparing witness binders and trial notebooks.
  • Preparing and organizing trial exhibits.
  • Tracking the receipt of discovery using Excel spreadsheets.
  • Performing database searches in Relativity.
  • Coding documents in Relativity.
  • Assisting attorneys at trial by loading and presenting evidence using litigation software.
  • Communicating with other DOJ components, Federal agencies and others as required during  investigations and litigation.
  • Assisting attorneys with case organization and trial preparation.
  • Digesting and indexing legal documents.
Requirements

Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a government security clearance to include an extensive background investigation.

  • Requires paralegal certificate, or JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study.
  • At least two years of litigation paralegal experience required; trial experience very helpful.
  • Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure will be very important.
  • Shall have basic legal knowledge, including knowledge of standard legal citation to cite check legal motions and memorandum and must have sufficient experience with legal research tools such as LEXIS-NEXIS and Westlaw to perform basic legal research.
  • Requires excellent written and oral communication skills, thorough knowledge and hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems. Typing, proofreading, drafting correspondence, calendaring deadlines, organizing and scanning files, reviewing statutes, and electronically filing documents with the court.
  • Prepare and organize evidence, discovery, and trial exhibits, such as statistical charts, power points, and demonstrative exhibits, to be presented in court and interrogatories, requests for financial information, and third-party subpoenas.
  • Skilled in the use of automated litigation support systems (Relativity), to track and maintain status on document processing, in support of large-scale, document heavy, complex litigation.
