About The Legal Department:

The Legal Department's attorney examiners conduct public hearings, issue procedural entries, and draft the opinions and orders issued by the Commission. The attorney examiners also answer inquiries about public hearings and case processing.

Duties

Utilities Attorney Examiner 1

Legal Department

Hourly Rate: $36.90

In this position as an Utilities Attorney Examiner 1 you will:

  • preside as an administrative law judge over Commission cases and draft decisions on behalf of the Commissioners
  • review initial case filings to determine appropriate procedural requirements
  • conduct settlement conferences in complaint cases
  • resolve procedural and discovery issues in assigned cases
  • conduct hearings and resolve evidentiary issues in natural gas, electric and power siting cases as well as other cases as assigned
  • analyze the testimony and other evidence presented at hearings
  • draft administrative law judge entries, proposed Commission entries and orders
  • provide training to Legal Aides and College Interns
  • and other duties as assigned.
