The Legal & Risk Management Intern will work as part of the Legal & Risk Management department to support various legal and risk management activities. This position focuses on legal research, compliance, risk assessment, and administrative support. This is a remote paid internship available for Spring 2025.

Overview: The Legal & Risk Management Intern will work as part of the Legal & Risk Management department to support various legal and risk management activities. This position focuses on legal research, compliance, risk assessment, and administrative support. This is a remote paid internship available for Spring 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
- Legal Research and Compliance (50%)
- Conduct legal research on various topics relevant to the organization’s operations.
- Assist in the preparation and review of legal documents, contracts, and agreements.
- Support the development and implementation of compliance programs and policies.
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations that may impact the organization.
- Risk Assessment and Management (30%)
- Assist in identifying and assessing potential risks to the organization.
- Support the development and implementation of risk management strategies and plans.
- Help conduct risk assessments and audits to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Coordinate with other departments to address and mitigate identified risks.
- Administrative Support (20%)
- Assist with data entry, document management, and other administrative tasks.
- Support the preparation of reports and presentations for the Legal & Risk Management team.
- Help organize and maintain legal and risk management files and records.
Learning Objectives:
- Develop skills in legal research and compliance.
- Gain experience in risk assessment and management.
- Enhance understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks affecting non-profit organizations.
- Improve communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree as a Junior or Senior in college or any year in graduate school.
- Open to all majors, with a preference for Law, Business Administration, Risk Management, Public Administration, or related fields.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work 10-12 weeks, 15-20 hours/week.
- Access to reliable internet (required for remote or hybrid positions).
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software for e-mail, document, and spreadsheet creation/management.
- Detail-oriented and able to handle confidential information with discretion

The hourly rate for internships is $15, except when noted differently above OR where local minimum wage exceeds that figure, in which case the hourly rate will be the higher of the two.
