Schedule:
CA/TX/DC Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
NY Hours: 9:30 a.m. to 5:30p p.m.

Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. We are currently seeking a Senior Docketing Coordinator in the Client Value & Practice Management department, reporting to the Firmwide Docketing Manager.

The role is eligible to work a hybrid schedule from our Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York or Washington, DC office and will be responsible for all California related docketing, additionally providing support to all jurisdictions as needed nationwide, and ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of centralized litigation calendaring services. The candidate will need to be competent in efiling in federal and state courts nationwide. The Senior Docketing Coordinator is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the Firm’s attorneys, secretaries, and staff, while

maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement. 

Key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Calendar deadlines in centralized docketing software
  • Oversee the timely completion of requests in regional docketing inboxes
  • Ensure service coverage across regions, including efiling in all jurisdictions
  • Monitor workflow and ensure workload balance across regions
  • Monitor and respond to requests sent to docketing inboxes
  • Conduct court rules research to quality check docket entries
  • Keep current with court rule updates
  • Ensure integrity of data in calendaring software
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of internal training manuals and documentation
  • Continuously assess systems to ensure they meet current needs
  • Participate in the evaluation, implementation, and testing of new systems
  • Coordinate service requests as needed
  • Participate in regular department meetings
  • Conduct orientation for attorneys, paralegals, and staff

Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 5+ years’ litigation docketing experience required (California Law/Rules a must)
  • Proficiency with calendaring software (preferred CourtAlert/Compulaw)
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local court rules
  • Thorough knowledge of MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate detailed and complex information to others
  • Aptitude for and willingness to work with complex procedures
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adjust to changing priorities in a professional manner
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Willingness and ability to assume new tasks and responsibilities
  • Excellent judgment and discretion
  • Strong service orientation and an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with attorneys, peers, office and firm management, and outside business partners
  • Ability to work extended hours as necessary to fulfill time sensitive responsibilities
  • Commitment to professional growth and development

The anticipated base salary range for this position is:
Washington, DC: $78,000 to $102,000.
New York: $73,000 to $104,000.
California: $78,000 to $93,000.

The actual salary offered will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, years of relevant experience, certifications or other professional licenses held, job-related knowledge and skills, business needs, and the location from which the work will be performed.  Additionally, salary or hourly wages may be only part of the total compensation package, which may also include a full range of health and other insurance benefits, financial and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility), a discretionary bonus, and various paid time off benefits.  Additional information about benefits and rewards can be found here.
