The Behavior Response Coordinator is responsible for carrying out and documenting disciplinary sanctions within a secure juvenile correctional facility. This role ensures that all sanctions follow departmental policies and state regulations, monitors youth compliance, and works closely with facility leadership, clinical teams, and program staff to protect youth rights and encourage accountability. The coordinator also tracks behavior trends, supports intervention strategies, and helps maintain a safe, structured environment that promotes rehabilitation.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Carry out disciplinary sanctions assigned through the facility’s behavior management system.
Ensure sanctions are implemented promptly and in accordance with established protocols, including room restrictions, loss of privileges, or participation in corrective activities.
Maintain accurate and timely records of all sanctions administered, including the youth’s behavior, sanction details, and compliance status.
Ensure documentation is entered into the facility’s case management system and available for review by supervisory staff.
Observe and track youth behavior during and after the sanction period to assess compliance and effectiveness.
Report any non-compliance or behavioral concerns to appropriate staff for further action or review.
Work closely with security, case managers, and behavioral staff to ensure sanctions align with individual behavior plans and facility goals.
Participate in team discussions to provide input on youth behavioral trends and sanction outcomes.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the department and agency.- Minimum and Additional Requirements
STATE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma and relevant program experience.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Strong understanding of correctional facility rules, disciplinary procedures, and due process rights.
Familiarity with behavioral management strategies and adolescent development.
Excellent analytical, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in maintaining detailed records and preparing comprehensive reports.
Proficiency in using computer software and databases for case management and documentation.
Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
Occasional lifting of files or records (up to 20 lbs.) with the ability to reach and bend.
Able to operate various office equipment and computers.
Potential exposure to stressful or confrontational situations.
Work is primarily conducted within a secure correctional facility.
Travel within South Carolina is required.- Preferred Qualifications
PREFERRED AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
A minimum of two (2) years of experience in behavioral assessment, corrections, or social services.- Additional Comments
