Pyxus International, Inc. is seeking an experienced paralegal to support its global Legal and Compliance team. The paralegal will perform support functions in all aspects of the daily operations of the Legal and Compliance department by reviewing, gathering, organizing and processing a variety of corporate documents and supporting the overall operations of the Legal Department. The right candidate will have excellent judgement, communication and organizational skills as well as a proven track record of progressively responsible experience in dynamic in-house legal departments.



Responsibilities
  • Support corporate governance for global entities within the Pyxus family including entity management, filings and record keeping.
  • Support the Chief Legal Officer and Secretary in Board secretary duties including drafting agendas, collecting signatures, maintaining and filing resolutions.
  • Maintain the intellectual property portfolio, including performance of initial trademark searches and collection of specimens required for renewals.
  • Provide contract support for standard corporate agreements, such as non-disclosure, sales, logistics and independent contractor agreements including initial drafting, review of revisions and filing of signed agreements under supervision of the Chief Legal Officer and Secretary.
  • Support the Company’s compliance efforts, including assisting with coordinating global compliance training; disseminating compliance materials; and supporting Company audits.
  • Provide support for documents and activities related to corporate restructurings, such as mergers, formations, and dissolutions.
  • Draft Powers of Attorney and lead activities required to apostille, legalize and consularize documents required by global affiliates, agencies and lenders.
  • Provide light administrative support for Legal team as needed.
  • Work with other members of the Executive team on special projects and initiatives 
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum 10 years’ experience supporting in-house legal departments. Paralegal Certificate preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills, including with Board, CEO and Executive Team.
  • Attention to detail, organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Superior prioritization skills to meet deadlines in fast-paced global environment Finely honed analytical skills and judgement to work through complex issues Ability to follow instructions and work independently
  • Commitment to high quality work product
  • Ability to maintain trust and maintain confidentiality 
  • Experience managing compliance matters a plus
  • North Carolina notary required
  • Proficiency using virtual data rooms to upload and organize documents
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
