In this role, you will support the Referee staff in navigating complex UC appeals that involve a range of intricate legal matters. In this role, you will manage the referee's hearing schedule and play a pivotal part in supporting the referee staff with the processing of UC appeals that encompass a range of intricate legal matters. These appeals arise from decisions made by UC Service Centers (UCSC) and remands from the UCBR, requiring a keen understanding of the legal landscape. Your duties will include the management of the referee's hearing calendar, the preparation of hearing notices, and the transcription of decisions from digital recordings. Additionally, you will transcribe decisions from typed drafts, ensuring clarity and precision in every document produced. You will serve as the first point of contact for clients, welcoming them and addressing their inquiries through various communication channels.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Work hours are negotiable.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, upon successful completion of a training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Lancaster.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

  • $44,890 - $67,678/year
Qualifications

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Legal Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of responsible clerical, investigative or enforcement work including one year of legal clerical support experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
