- Prepares routine contracts and various legal documents, related to county mobility bond projects, for review and revisions by attorney.
- Sets up and maintains legal mobility bond files, work files and research files.
- Basic legal research locating relevant statutes, regulations and case law.
- Inputs data in contract management system and monitors status of completion of documents.
- Schedule appointments and maintains attorneys’ calendars, including internal and external meeting dates, to ensure deadlines are met.
- Prepares for meetings, including agenda and any necessary materials.
- Drafts routine emails and other communications.
- Facilitates and assists with calls to and from various county departments, title companies, property owners and other parties to provide and/or receive needed information.
- Review and organize property tax statements related to mobility bond projects.
- Prevents, restricts and/or regulates disclosure of privileged, exempt and/or confidential information.
- Serves as notary public.
- Track legal expenses related to mobility bond matters, and requisition purchase orders and supplies when necessary.
- Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- High School/GED. Two years of specialized vocational/technical preferred - (Paralegal preferred) training.
- Five years job related experience.
- Strong computer and typing skills (minimum 50 WPM), including proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees and elected officials.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License.
- Paralegal Certificate highly preferred.
- Notary Public preferred.
- Bilingual preferred.
STARTING SALARY RANGE: $25.21 - $31.52 hourly based on qualifications
CLOSING DATE: Upon filling position
