Litigation Attorney II (Stage 2)
Position Overview
We are seeking a newly barred Litigation Attorney II to join our growing legal team. This attorney will play a critical role in managing the early to mid-stages of litigation, with a strong focus on arbitration disputes, discovery, and meet-and-confer processes. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to make a difference in the fight for workplace justice.
Key Responsibilities
- Arbitration Disputes
- Handle early arbitration disputes, including drafting briefs and participating in hearings.
- Analyze case law, statutes, and procedural rules to support arbitration strategy.
- Discovery Management (Set 1)
- Draft, review, and approve initial discovery requests and responses.
- Ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with the overall case strategy.
- Identify gaps and propose corrective actions when needed.
- Meet-and-Confer Efforts
- Lead and monitor meet-and-confer discussions with opposing counsel.
- Document outcomes, escalate unresolved issues, and advise senior attorneys on next steps.
- Motions Practice
- Prepare and argue motions to compel when disputes cannot be resolved informally.
- Support motion practice with legal research, exhibits, and supporting arguments.
- Collaboration & Case Development
- Partner with senior attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to move cases forward.
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on relevant issues.
- Contribute to case strategy discussions and execution.
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active member of the California State Bar (newly barred attorneys encouraged to apply).
- Knowledge of arbitration procedures, discovery rules, and civil procedure.
- Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
- Ability to manage deadlines and multiple cases in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and negotiation.
