Employment-focused non-profit agency for court-involved citizens currently seeking a Legal Services Coordinator/ Case Manager. The ideal candidate is a professional with a legal background who is interested in helping court-involved citizens restore their lives in a holistic fashion. This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday, with a full benefits package.
The position reports directly to the Site Director and General Counsel. NJRC operates facilities statewide, and the candidate will be expected, at times, to travel to courts and other appointments around the state. The candidate will be trained in the relevant areas of law, including criminal, municipal court, and related administrative law.
The ability to learn and use the Salesforce database system is essential; training will be provided.
Responsibilities:
- As a Case Manager, all NJRC program participants will require non-legal social service navigation/case management, and some will require more advanced legal assistance which must be approved by General Counsel.
- The Legal Services Coordinator/ Case Manager will lead and present multiple weekly group sessions to court-involved citizens, provide ongoing case management/outreach to a large caseload, crisis intervention, community outreach and engagement, data entry, data evaluation, and review.
- Assist NJRC program participants with necessary applications.
- Ability to appear in municipal courts with the attorney.
- Ad hoc reporting as needed.
- Travel to NJRC facilities, courts, NJ administrative offices, and other appointments around the state.
Required:
- Ability to learn and use the Salesforce system is an absolute requirement of this position.
- Knowledge of criminal justice issues or willingness to be taught by our team of lawyers.
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- A strengths-based and trauma-informed approach is a must.
- Excellent writing skills.
Preferred:
- Pre-law undergraduate degree.
- Experience with the Salesforce system.
- Direct experience with court-involved citizens.
- Law school students and Spanish speakers are strongly encouraged to apply.
- A paralegal certificate is a plus.
Salary:
Starting salary is $50,000. Negotiable
