
Paralegal, Employment Single Action

The Opportunity
Paralegals in our Employment practice work closely with attorneys and partners in involving discrimination, wrongful termination, retaliation, harassment, etc., through the litigation process. We are looking for Paralegals with proven experience in employment (FEHA) law, preparing plaintiff responses, reviewing defendant responses, filings, and owning calendaring and scheduling deadlines. This role manages a high volume of cases and requires the ability to anticipate, be resourceful and multi-task with high attention to detail.
Accountable for
- Drafting discovery, propounding, and depo notices for attorney review.
- Prepare substantive responses for Plaintiff and review Defendant’s responses.
- Prepare TOC’s, TOA’s, and other documents for filing with the state and federal court.
- Draft Meet & Confers, complaints, witness statements, correspondence and regularly communicate with clients, experts, and defense counsel in an effective and courteous manner.
- Ownership of calendaring and scheduling deadlines, ensuring accuracy, and providing attorney with 14, 7, and 3 day reminders for instructions.
- Assist with pre-trial preparation, including drafting trial documents and preparing exhibits.
- Communicate effectively with Partners and Associates
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of Paralegal experience in Employment Litigation for Single Plaintiff (FEHA)
- Strong knowledge of employment law and state and federal filing process
- Working knowledge of the California Code of Civil Procedure
- Familiarity with DFEH and EEOC claims process.
- Experience drafting and propounding discovery, initial complaints, meet and confer responses, witness statements, disclosures, designation of experts, objections letters, etc.
- Knowledge of e-Filing and California rules and deadlines for propounding, serving discovery, depo notices, entry of default, motions, MSC, TSC, etc..
- Experience in Federal procedure is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Litify experience preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and follow-up skills
- Type at least 40 wpm
Compensation
- $72,000-$105,000 annually depending on experience.
