The Legal Assistant provides support to the Chief Legal Officer, Chief Commercial Officer, and the Associate General Counsels of Driftwood Capital in the business of sponsoring hotel acquisition, development, and lending transactions.
Responsibilities:
- Legal document storage, delivery, notarization, and management
- Completing “KYC” (know your client/customer) requests for new bank account openings
- Coordinating team members across various departments during transaction closings and other deadline-sensitive projects, including organizing signature packages and closing checklists
- Reviewing and managing due diligence items and processes related to hospitality, real estate and corporate transactions
- Assisting with the structuring of corporate and real estate transactions, including the formation and maintenance of limited partnerships, limited liability companies and other corporate entities
- Assisting General Counsel and two Associate General Counsels in schedule management, taking notes during calls, and maintaining lists of open items and status
- Special projects on an “as needed” basis, e.g., assisting accounting team with invoice processing, assisting investor relations department with event planning and other tasks during the week of the firm’s annual investor conference, etc.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a dedicated administrative assistant in the legal or financial services field; at least 4 years of experience as an administrative assistant in the real estate or corporate departments of a large law firm is preferred
- Desire to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Ability to prioritize and multitask
- Willingness to expand knowledge base
- Ability to execute on highly detail-oriented and sensitive assignments
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills; additional fluency in Spanish strongly preferred
- Four-year college degree preferred
