- Job Responsibilities
The Kent County Prosecutor’s Office conducts evidence-based investigations into alleged violations of city, county, state, and federal laws in support of criminal prosecutions. At this time, we are seeking to hire an Investigator. Work is performed under general supervision in this team-oriented office.
In this professional role, responsibilities include:- Completing independent investigations which may include obtaining, verifying, and/or validating evidence related to cases
- Locating and interviewing witnesses
- Conducting interviews, preparing statements, and analyzing data
- Visiting, recording, and photographing/diagraming crime scenes
- Assisting with evidence preparation for trial
- Serving subpoenas which may include victim/witness transportation
- Appearing as a witness and testifying at trials if needed.
- Many other duties as required.
Investigators at the Prosecutor's Office are integral parts of the prosecution team, who demonstrate a commitment to serving victims of crime.
- Minimum Qualifications
Associates degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, sociology, legal studies, or other relevant field with at least one (1) year of law enforcement experience, is required; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Must possess valid Michigan driver’s license and have access to transportation for the performance of job duties.
Desirable Knowledge & Skills: Criminal investigative experience, licensed as an Investigator by the State of Michigan, and fluency in one or more languages use by the community.- Additional Information
