
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Associate General Counsel is responsible for providing broad-based legal, regulatory and compliance support. This position provides support to the General Counsel as well as the business teams on a variety of legal matters including contracts, litigation support, legal research, marketing reviews, information technology, security and data privacy, insurance regulatory matters, and corporate governance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide high quality legal services on a timely and cost-efficient basis
- Support negotiation, drafting, and review of reinsurance and related agreements, as well as contracts and vendor agreements
- Actively participate as the legal representative on core project teams
- Respond to Subpoenas and support other litigation matters
- Assist with corporate governance and operational matters related to corporate transactions and insurance regulatory matters
- Advise on legal and regulatory requirements, corporate policies and procedures, best practices, and strategies for managing risk
- Prepare memoranda, legal agreements, regulatory filings, and other documents
- Work cross functionally with other attorneys and the compliance and regulatory teams to provide holistic legal advice
- Performs other activities, duties and assignments as needed or requested
Minimum Qualifications:
- Active bar membership in good standing in at least one jurisdiction
- 2 - 5 years of experience in house or with a law firm, with a focus on insurance and/or corporate law
- Independent and curious
- Team player
- Self-starter
- Strong attention to detail
- Inquisitive with an ability to navigate complicated and nuanced issues
- Willingness to learn and expand legal knowledge in unanticipated areas
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is located in a professional office environment . This role routinely uses standard office equipment and requires the physical demands of a normal office position with some light lifting. This is a full-time position with benefits. This position may require longer hours and weekend work when necessary. Some travel may be required.
