The TOD Projects Coordinator position will work to support the implementation of TriMet's Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) program and promote TOD projects and principles throughout the tri-county region. Project coordination responsibilities will support identification and advancement of Transit-Oriented Development projects (including sourcing opportunities and supporting negotiations), manage site due diligence and project development activities, provide leadership on project planning and design, and monitor partner performance to ensure the goals set out in TriMet's TOD Guidelines and other negotiated agreements are implemented. This position will support TOD Managers by ensuring that projects integrate with the surrounding communities and transit amenities, and support the best possible developments from a TOD and equity standpoint.

Other responsibilities will include supporting TOD Managers in applying for grants to fund planning studies that assess TOD opportunity sites and identifying grants, partnerships, and other ways to fund and support project implementation. The role will require interaction with developers, consultants, TriMet staff, jurisdictional partners and other collaborators regarding project concepts, plans, and designs, and supporting team leadership in adopting TOD best practice whenever possible.

This is a part-time position that will not exceed twenty-four (24) hours per week.

This role requires being onsite three (3) days per week.

Serve as a good steward of TriMet and maintain a strong and current understanding of customers’ experiences and of TriMet’s product and service offerings.

Reliable in-person attendance is an essential function of all positions. TriMet is an in-person first organization, with a strong emphasis on in-person collaboration, customer service, and safe and efficient operations. Some positions may be able to work up to two days remotely depending on department policy, business needs, and manager discretion.

Essential Functions

  1. Work with the TOD Program Manager and TOD Design Manager to coordinate the planning and implementation efforts for TriMet TOD projects.
  2. Analyze the economic feasibility and benefits of TOD projects. Calculate financial and social impacts of TOD projects and the value capture that they can generate.
  3. Represent TriMet at various meetings with other agencies, community leaders, community groups, and other collaborators to support coordination efforts on the region’s promotion of TOD.
  4. Analyze planning, zoning, and building code standards established by local jurisdictions to interpret how they might influence planned TOD projects.
  5. Support planning efforts to deliver actionable strategies that can lead to future TOD projects. Assist with technical studies and community involvement. Work with consultants and partners to identify innovative solutions promoting the delivery of high-density equitable TOD
  6. Coordinate with other TriMet and third party planning and design efforts to ensure resulting plans take account of TriMet’s TOD Guidelines.
  7. Support TOD Program and Design Managers to ensure TriMet TOD projects meet all required standards, including transit-supportive design guidelines, financial feasibility goals, operational requirements, equity goals, cost guidelines, regional and local planning code, and site-specific design objectives.
  8. Promote equity, sustainability and livability initiatives for the Portland-metro region.

Position Requirements

A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required, with a bachelor's degree in planning, urban planning/design, Economics, real estate, business, architecture, or a related field being preferred.

Two (2) years of experience in implementing and coordinating projects are required.

One (1) year of experience coordinating and managing consultant services is required.

One (1) year of design or real estate experience is preferred.

Or any equivalent combination of experience and training.*

The amount of credit a candidate receives for prior years of experience is based on the relevancy of that experience to the required or preferred prerequisites of the job description. Experience is prorated based on hours worked. LRHR assigns and validates the "credited experience".

Salary Range

$40.19 per hour -  $60.28 per hour

Salary offers will be determined by a candidate’s education, training and relevant experience. Any final offer of employment will fall within the range stated above.  For transparency, we choose to list the full available grade range, however, TriMet’s salary administration process will ultimately determine the final salary offered.
