Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Docket Management: Maintain and update the firm’s docketing system with all relevant deadlines, court dates, and other critical information. Ensure that all entries are accurate and up-to-date.
- Deadline Tracking: Monitor and track deadlines for filings, hearings, and other legal proceedings. Proactively communicate upcoming deadlines and court dates to attorneys and legal staff.
- Verification: Review and verify the accuracy of docket entries and related documents. Ensure compliance with court rules and deadlines.
- Coordination: Coordinate with attorneys, paralegals, and other legal assistants to ensure that all necessary actions are taken in a timely manner. Assist in the preparation and filing of legal documents as needed.
- Reporting: Generate and distribute docket reports to relevant team members. Provide regular updates on the status of pending matters.
- Electronic Document Management System: Familiarity with electronic document management systems for organizing, storing, and retrieving legal documents efficiently.
- Electronic Filing: Skilled in navigating and utilizing e-filing systems and procedures for both state and federal courts, ensuring timely and accurate submission of legal documents.
- Administrative Support: Perform other administrative tasks as required.
Qualifications:
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in a legal assistant role.
- Technology Adaptability: Ability to quickly adapt to and learn new technologies, ensuring efficient use of the latest tools and software.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring all tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, ensuring clear and professional interactions with clients, attorneys, and other parties.
- Teamwork: Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and a collaborative approach to work.
- Adobe Acrobat: Expertise in using Adobe Acrobat for bates labeling, splitting and combining PDF documents, optimizing and reducing PDF file sizes, and ensuring documents are properly formatted and accessible.
Work Arrangement:
- Hybrid Work Option: There may be an opportunity to transition to a hybrid work arrangement after sufficient training and demonstration of the ability to work independently and effectively.
Compensation:
- Pay: Compensation is commensurate with candidates' knowledge, skills and relevant experienced in a legal environment. The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $85,000.
