Position Summary:
Do you have 5+ years of senior-level docket management experience? Are you a practicing attorney looking to utilize their JD in a non-traditional way? Then look now further because our Chicago office has an amazing opportunity for a Docket Quality Manager. This role is perfect for the experienced individual who has a depth of understanding and experience of docketing, court rules and civil procedures and is looking to guide others on filing protocols and manage deadline expectations.
The Docket Quality Manager plays a critical role in the Benesch Docket team, ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and compliance in docketing and court filings. This position involves providing expert legal analysis on complex procedural and strategic matters in both state and federal courts. A deep understanding of court rules and civil procedure is essential. Utilizing tools such as CourtAlert, Case Portal, CourtLink and Lex Machina, the Docket Quality Manager will perform meticulous legal research and quality control.
Essential Functions:
Case Management System Proficiency
1. Oversees the quality control of docketed items and documents.
2. Accurately dockets response deadlines and retrieve critical case information from the Firm's case management system.
e-Filing
3. Advises attorneys, paralegals, and staff on court rules, procedures, and best practices.
4. Conducts in-depth research and analysis of applicable court rules, practices, and jurisdiction-specific requirements.
5. Develops detailed procedural roadmaps to guide attorneys through complex court filings.
6. Provides proactive, technical guidance on advanced procedural questions and filing requirements.
7. Serves as a liaison with court personnel to troubleshoot filing issues and resolve miscellaneous matters.
8. Provides guidance on attorney admissions and renewals, including preparation and e-filing of pro hac vice applications.
9. Electronically files a broad range of court documents nationwide.
Data Retrieval and Research
10. Navigates court websites to retrieve necessary documents and conduct research for docketing and e-filing.
11. Uses legal research tools to gather pertinent data for procedural and strategic issues across various jurisdictions.
Qualifications:
The Docket Quality Manager must have a minimum of 5 years senior-level docket management experience. A J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school or prior experience as a practicing litigation attorney is highly preferred. Must have strong familiarity with federal and state court rules nationally. Preferred qualifications include knowledge of operations across various courts and administrative agencies, and experience guiding teams on court rule compliance and strategic filing practices.
The Docket Quality Manager should be proficient in using case management systems, e-filing platforms, and conducting internet-based legal research. Technical proficiency in CourtAlert, Microsoft Office Suite, Case Portal and LexisNexis is essential. This role requires extensive knowledge of court rules and procedures across multiple jurisdictions and a proven ability to interpret and apply complex court rules quickly and accurately. Must be skilled at clearly articulating complex calendaring issues and legal procedures. Demonstrated strong analytical capabilities in interpreting legal principles and procedural nuances is required. The Docket Quality Manager should possess a professional demeanor with outstanding interpersonal and client service skills, exceptional organizational and communication skills, and effective task prioritization.

The salary range for this position is $129K to $174K.
Please note that quoted salary ranges are based on Benesch's good faith belief at the time of the job posting and are not a guarantee of what final salary offers may be. Base pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay is only one part of the Total Rewards that Benesch provides to compensate and recognize our staff professionals for their work. Full-time positions are eligible for a discretionary bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
