Pugh & Pugh seeks a sharp legal assistant for our busy law firm who can help our attorneys and paralegals assist clients and keep the office running smoothly. You'll work with the team to prepare a variety of legal documents and handle office correspondence like answering emails and phone calls, scheduling meetings and travel, and reminding the team of upcoming deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Take direction from assigned attorney, if applicable
  • Coordinate client communication, scheduling, and meeting preparation.
  • Prepare, proofread, and format legal documents, correspondence, and contracts.
  • Manage case files, ensuring all documents are accurately organized and up to date.
  • Conduct basic legal research and gather necessary documentation for attorneys.
  • Assist in filing legal documents with courts, agencies, and other entities.
  • Run errands in Wamego, St. Mary's, Manhattan, and surrounding areas as directed.
  • Receive physical checks for legal fees, ensure weekly fees are recorded, enter checks into the deposit box, and scan them into the portal for the bookkeeper.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with firm policies and legal regulations.
  • Acts in a stewardship capacity for the Company, works as a functional member of the team, has ability to self-direct and self-regulate workday.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior experience as a legal assistant, paralegal, or in a similar administrative role preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and capacity to learn legal document management systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Salary
  • $18 - $23/hour
