POSITION SUMMARY: District 10 District Attorney’s Office covers Osage and Pawnee Counties.  Vacant Assistant District Attorney position is located in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Preference is for individuals with prosecution experience, but we will also consider new attorneys who have a genuine desire to serve the community in which they live.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Prosecution of all levels of criminal cases (misdemeanors and felonies) including traffic, juvenile, and special courts (drug/mental health/diversion).

  • Possess excellent verbal skills, legal analysis, and legal writing and editing skills.
  • Organizational, communication, problem solving, and teamwork skills.
  • Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

District 10 covers Osage and Pawnee Counties and is home of the Osage and Pawnee Nations.  The Native American culture is rich and deep in this area.  District 10 main office is in Pawhuska with a satellite office in Pawnee.

Pawhuska is a growing tourist destination due to local resident and Food Network star, Ree Drummond, also known as The Pioneer Woman.  Hollywood also loves this area as three movies have been filmed here in the past decade: To The Wonder (Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams, Javier Bardem, and Amanda Peet), August Osage County (Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Benedict Cumberbatch, Abigail Breslin, and Juliette Lewis) and Killers of the Flower Moon (Leonardo DiCaprio, Lily Gladstone, Robert De Niro, Brendan Fraser, and Jesse Plemons).

Tourism, oil, cattle, and government (County and Tribal) are the largest employers.  Hills, prairies, lakes, and woods make this area prime for outdoor enthusiasts, but “city” life is just a short drive as Bartlesville is 25 minutes down the road and downtown Tulsa is only 50 minutes away.  Locals, however, love Pawhuska because it is one of those small towns from days of past where life is simpler, where neighbors visit regularly, and the community watches out for each other.

Our office has several seasoned attorneys and a newbie.  The support staff is stable and knowledgeable.  We are professional, friendly, and hardworking. If you are considering a change, think about Pawhuska, Osage County!

TO APPLY: Applicants should submit a cover letter, resume and references to the following: mike.fisher@dac.state.ok.us
