The company currently operates ambulance services in fifteen (15) states and is continuing to grow. The company also has a patient logistics division (Randseco and its StatCall platform) and is also growing a telehealth division (OnDemand Visit).
The Law Department serves as the primary legal resource for Priority Ambulance and all of its affiliated companies. The company’s General Counsel manages the Law Department. The Law Department Paralegal will serve as the chief assistant to the General Counsel.
The Law Department Paralegal will assist the General Counsel as primary legal advisor on general business transactions and activities, including, without limitation, negotiating, drafting, and execution of legal documents; employment practices; worker’s compensation; customer contracts; vendor contracts; leases; employment agreements; non-disclosure and business associate agreements. The Paralegal will also assist the General Counsel in coordinating and overseeing the work of outside legal counsel as needed.
The Law Department Paralegal will assist the General Counsel in coordination of overall responses to legal complaints and litigation, including discovery matters. The Paralegal will assist in drafting company policies, procedures, and compliance-related documents. The Paralegal will assist the General Counsel in performing research, drafting memoranda, and providing legal interpretation of relevant statutes, regulations, and accreditation standards.
The Paralegal will assist the General Counsel in providing legal counsel to executive staff and all levels of operational management. The Paralegal will assist in judging the merits of cases filed against or on behalf of the company, work with the appropriate executive(s) to define a strategic defense and recommend settlements of disputes where warranted. The Paralegal will be required to perform other duties as assigned by the General Counsel in the overall management of the company’s legal needs.
Travel
This position might require approximately five to ten percent (5-10%) travel and being on-call as necessary to address urgent matters and meet the needs of a dynamic organization.
Work Environment
This job is an on-site position and operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Preferred Education and Experience
• Certified Legal Assistant/Certified Paralegal and/or Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies
• Five or more (5+) years’ experience in a law firm or corporate law department environment
• Ability to lead by example including a willingness to “roll up your sleeves” and undertake day- to-day legal work
• Flexible enough to respond quickly when priorities change
• Adept at managing the activities of a team and working well with diverse personalities
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task and appropriately prioritize and manage multiple projects
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills
• Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
