JOB TITLE: Paralegal – Litigation
STATUS: Non-Exempt
Type: Full Time
The Paralegal – Litigation position supports attorneys in litigation. This position involves working under the direction of attorneys, with limited supervision, to assist in all aspects of litigation. It requires strong communication skills (both in person and in writing) and the ability to learn and use various software and technology platforms. It also requires the ability to multitask under pressure. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Filing documents in state and federal court.
- Managing case dockets and calendar deadlines.
- Maintaining and organizing case and client files.
- Assisting with deposition preparation, scheduling, and logistics.
- Preparing litigation filings, including motions, affidavits, and declarations.
- Preparing discovery requests and responses and assisting with document intake and review.
- Working with outside consultants and experts.
- Communicating with clients and other counsel in person and in writing.
- Assisting with trial and arbitration preparation, support, and logistics.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of recent litigation experience.
- Proficient in Word and Excel.
- Experience with or willingness and ability to learn electronic discovery platforms (e.g., Relativity).
- Excellent proofreading skills.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Desire to be an important team member of a growing litigation team.
- Proactive and able to take ownership of work product.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree minimum or equivalent related work experience.
- ABA-approved Paralegal course of study or North Carolina State Paralegal Certification.
