Description

 Trenam Law is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to support our Litigation practice which includes a busy Eminent Domain attorney in our downtown Tampa office. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-oriented legal environment and has a strong background in litigation, transactional, and land use matters. Success in this role will require highly developed organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks or projects, and an ability to think proactively and to anticipate next steps to benefit the efficiency of the practice. 


The Legal Assistant will work closely with clients and will need the interpersonal skills and confidence to provide an excellent client experience. This is a hands-on role that involves case management, filing new matters, document preparation, and scheduling, with some exposure to modern litigation tools such as e-discovery platforms and occasional use of mapping data or visuals related to real estate and property matters.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive legal and administrative support in litigation, eminent domain, and transactional matters.
  • Draft, proofread, and finalize correspondence, pleadings, discovery, and legal documents.
  • Maintain case and client files in document management systems (DMS); organize and file pleadings, exhibits, and incoming              correspondence.
  • Manage attorney calendars, including court deadlines, depositions, client meetings, and travel arrangements.
  • Coordinate with court personnel, opposing counsel, clients, vendors, and internal staff.
  • Assist with opening new matters: gather relevant information, initiate conflict checks, and draft engagement and preservation letters.
  • Submit check requests, manage attorney expenses, and assist with time entry and billing procedures.
  • Support deposition and trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and arranging logistics.
  • Monitor and help manage discovery platforms (e.g., DISCO); assist attorneys and paralegals in managing litigation data.
  • Help maintain professionalism and client confidentiality in all interactions and documentation.


Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Legal Assistant, ideally in litigation or land use matters.
  • Experience in eminent domain processes is helpful though additional training will be provided.
  • Strong working knowledge of legal procedures, calendaring, and document preparation.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and experience with document and case management systems such as iManage.
  • Experience with litigation support tools (e.g., DISCO or similar) helpful.
  • Professional communication skills and ability to interact with clients and court personnel.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks independently.
  • A proactive, resourceful, positive, and collaborative attitude.
