Job Description

POSITION: Legal Internship (non-exempt / hourly)

PAY RATE: $25.00/hr

POSITION SUMMARY: Through supporting the Legal & Compliance team, the Legal Intern will have the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills learned in undergraduate or law school, while acquiring valuable real-world experience at a best-in-class, institutional-level organization.

CARDINAL GROUP: Cardinal Group Companies (CGC) is a premier real estate investment, development, construction, marketing, and management company specializing in the acquisition, development, and management of multifamily and student housing properties throughout the United States. The Legal Intern will work across all functions of our legal and compliance team and will have the opportunity to interact with a variety of business stakeholders, including in operations, investments, marketing and real estate services, including senior leadership.

The Intern will participate in Cardinal’s Summer Internship Cohort. The cohort will meet weekly for 1-2 hours to participate in department presentations, culture-building events, and cross-training opportunities. This internship provides interns the opportunity to engage and collaborate within a unique learning environment and includes 20 hours of mentorship by company leaders.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM DATES: June 2, 2026 to July 31, 2026

RESPONSIBILITIES (Including but not limited to):

  • Conduct legal and compliance research
  • Assist with legal infrastructure and collaboration projects germane to operating as an in-house legal service provider
  • Assist with the drafting of legal documents and forms
  • Assist with lease compliance review and drafting
  • Observe litigation management practices and maintain docket information
  • File, organize and summarize legal and corporate documents
  • Update and maintain legal and corporate documents, records and databases
  • Assist with other legal and compliance tasks as needed
  • Participate in Cardinal company events and resource groups

 

Qualifications

  • Located physically in Denver, CO and able to work in a hybrid environment (in-person/remote), with at least 3-4 days in an office environment each week
  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in law or a related field or currently pursuing a law degree
  • Interest in and desire to learn more about in-house corporate legal practice
  • Interest in the multifamily real estate industry with a passion for knowledge and growth
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Google Workspace
