Litigation Docketing Specialist - Remote Option Available

Akerman is seeking a Litigation Docketing Specialist. This position is responsible for the timely and accurate calendaring of cases in the centralized litigation docketing system (CompuLaw), responding to calls, emails, and maintaining the docketing inbox. This role provides docketing coverage for all U.S. jurisdictions in a timely and accurate fashion. This position works under the direct supervision of the Docketing Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Handle all facets of docketing, including calendaring deadlines in federal, appellate and state court cases nationwide;
- Review documents, correspondence, and e-mails to determine deadlines and apply applicable key code entries in the Firm’s docketing system;
- Respond to case teams to ensure that docket entries are accurate;
- Answer procedural questions related to date calculations;
- Assist in the investigation of docket issues and respond to procedural inquiries from attorneys;
- Know how to electronically research court cases to maintain an accurate record;
- Responsible for learning and demonstrating knowledge of court rules and procedures in all court systems, including federal and state court jurisdictions, as well as various U.S. and international courts of arbitration; and
- Assist with special projects as assigned by Docketing Manager.
Education and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree and 5-7 years of experience as a docket specialist
- Proficient with rules based docketing
- Computer proficient with advanced skills in all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and Outlook) required
- A detail oriented skill set and have the ability to budget time efficiently while handling multiple tasks
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- The ability to interpret and analyze information
- Experience with CompuLaw desired, but not required
- Thorough knowledge of NYSCEF (preferred) and CM / ECF systems (required)
Job Type: Full-Time (40 hours)
Schedule: Monday through Friday
Salary range: $85,200 - $113,700 (Actual salary is based on experience and job qualifications.)
Bonus: Discretionary holiday bonus
