Qualifications:
• 7+ years of relevant legal experience addressing the diversity of corporate requirements of the rapidly evolving technology/software or space sector. Relevant legal experience shall include the following:
• Drafting and negotiating contracts and agreements (both routine and high-value,    strategic business agreements)
• Experience with MSAs, SLAs and SaaS contracts, to include protecting intellectual property and data rights
• Ensuring compliance with U.S. and foreign laws and regulations
• Proactive risk management strategy development to protect and preserve the Company’s legal equities
• Keeping apprised of legal and regulatory developments impacting LEOLABS’ lines of business and duly informing the Company’s leadership of said developments
• Employing a mission-focused, consultative approach to enable achievement of the Company’s strategic business priorities
• Experience with global and domestic compliance matters, which may include but not be limited to employment, tax, real estate, export/import matters, and insurance
 
Additionally, the successful candidate must have an exceptional understanding of a variety of commercial agreements, including hands-on experience in reviewing, negotiating, and drafting business arrangements, as well as at minimum possess:
• Excellent written and verbal communication, attention to detail, problem solving and decision-making skills
• Ability to quickly identify legal risks and develop relevant mitigation strategies and/or alternative courses of action
• Experience engaging outside counsel and consultants in a judicious and cost-efficient manner, as necessary
• J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school
• Admitted to and member in good standing of at least one U.S. State Bar
 
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with a fast-growing, venture capital-backed company – prior M&A experience is advantageous
• Experience in the Space or SaaS industry
• Experience with FAR, DFARS and federal and international procurement laws and regulations
• Experience Managing IP portfolios
• Experience with US and International Export Controls, to include EAR and ITAR
 
Within 1 month, you’ll:
• Complete our onboarding program designed to get you up to speed on our business, vision and team
• Gain an understanding about how your role fits into LeoLabs broader organization.
• Connect with the internal LeoLabs team as well as outside legal counsel and consultants
• Become familiar with the company structure and business process and the daily/weekly/monthly duties
• Review our current legal templates and management systems
 
Within 3 months, you’ll:
• Intake and review legal inquiries with minimal supervision
• Attend regular legal meetings and engagements with outside counsel
• Become proficient in navigating our internal legal systems
 
Within 6 months, you’ll:
• Engage directly with stakeholders within the company to assess legal risks and facilitate problem resolution
• Review contracts, agreements, NDAs, etc. for legal sufficiency
• Collaborate with the Chief Legal Officer on a broad array of legal issues across the Company
• Monitor and identify legal risks during global expansion
 
Within 12 months, you’ll:
• Identify areas to streamline the internal legal process
• Engage directly with outside legal counsel and consultants
• Provide management with insightful legal analysis
• Assist the Chief Legal Officer with special legal projects
 
Salary offers are based on a combination of factors, including, but not limited to, experience, skills, and location. The base salary range for this position in the Bay Area is $127K - $169K + bonus + stock options + benefits

ITAR REQUIREMENTS
To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State. More information regarding ITAR can be found at DDTC’s website
