Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our team and support our mission to provide clean, reliable energy.

Work Location: 11911 Freedom Dr Reston, VA 20190

Work Type: Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote)

Job Summary: 

The Paralegal will provide essential legal support to SolUnesco’s project development team, assisting with contract management, real estate transactions, regulatory compliance, and other legal and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will have experience in the renewable energy or real estate development industry and demonstrate exceptional organizational and communication skills. 

Job Functions: 

Contract and Vendor Management:  

  • Draft, review, and manage various legal documents, including land lease/purchase agreements, option agreements, and amendments.  

  • Maintain organized records of contracts and ensure compliance with timelines, terms, and obligations.  

Real Estate Support:  

  • Assist with title reviews, curative actions, and other real estate due diligence activities.  

  • Coordinate with title companies, surveyors, and external counsel to resolve title or property-related issues.  

Regulatory Compliance:  

  • Research and ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations impacting renewable energy projects.  

  • Assist in preparing and submitting permitting documentation and applications.  

Corporate Governance:  

  • Support corporate compliance activities, including filing for special purpose entities, managing general company tax matters, maintaining company records, and ensuring timely submission of annual reports and other required filings.  

Administrative Tasks:  

  • Coordinate and manage legal correspondence and documentation with external counsel and stakeholders.  

  • Maintain and update databases and systems for legal and project documentation. 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 

  • Familiarity with real estate transactions, title work, and contract management.  

  • Strong understanding of legal terminology, practices, and procedures.  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.  

  • Proficiency in legal research tools and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with project management platforms is a plus.  

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.  

Preferred:  

  • Knowledge of renewable energy and/or infrastructure development.  

  • Knowledge of land use, zoning, and permitting processes.  

Qualifications & Experience: 

  • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or related field.  

  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years experience in a paralegal or legal assistant role, preferably in real estate, energy, or project development sectors.  

  • Certifications/Licenses: Paralegal certification preferred. Obtained from an American Bar Association accredited program, the National Federation of Paralegal Associations, or the National Association of Legal Assistants.
