About the Job

 

The Paralegal will provide paralegal and administrative support to the Legal Department regarding all legal drafting, review, approval, execution, and ongoing maintenance of company agreements and other corporate documents through the company’s CLM tool.

 

The Paralegal will assist with the ongoing implementation and administration of the company’s CLM tool and provide support for the various stages of the contracting process (e.g., preparation, review, negotiation, execution) for all company contracts in support of the company’s business strategy and activities.  

 

The Paralegal will provide administrative support in key areas including, but not limited to, corporate filings, intake of outside correspondence and mailings, invoice processing, insurance application review and policy renewals, insurance claim management, matter management, file maintenance, due diligence requests, and coordination with outside counsel for litigation and other matters.  

 

The Paralegal will provide support with respect to all Legal Department affairs, including corporate governance, contracts, employee matters, research, drafting, commercial matters, mergers and acquisitions, labor law and employment, licensing and regulatory compliance, litigation, real estate, taxes, and intellectual property. 

 

This position is performed with considerable independence, applying independent judgment and proficient knowledge of legal terminology, documents, and procedures.

 

 

In This Role, You Will:

 

  • Assist in preparation of written materials, including templates, correspondence, e-mail, reports, presentations, contract tracking spreadsheets, and other documents
  • Organize, maintain, and update legal documents, corporate records, contracts, leases and other department records
  • Administer CLM system and contract lifecycle process including initial intake of contracts through the system and dissemination to Legal Department attorneys and outside counsel for review, finalization, and execution pursuant to company policies and processes
  • Coordinate with Legal Department staff and other departments in support of business operations
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., Finance, Sales, IT, Human Resources, Safety, Tax, Marketing) to ensure efficient workflow and handling of requests
  • Participate in implementation of new technical solutions to better improve workflow and efficiency of the Legal Department
  • Screen incoming communications, including opening and processing mail and prioritizing and distributing action items accordingly
  • Assist with handling of invoices including, review, processing, reconciling, and tracking of payments
  • Assist with organization of due diligence files for mergers and acquisitions matters
  • Assist with preparation of insurance applications and gathering of data for renewals
  • Assist with corporate compliance filings for new and existing entities with various government agencies and maintain corresponding records
  • Assist with litigation and administrative matters, including document management, organizing, and maintaining internal litigation files, data tracking, and monitoring activity for ongoing legal and compliance matters
  • Contribute to insurance claims management including gathering of various documents and reports
  • Maintain the filing system for corporate records, contracts, real estate leases, licenses, and other documents
  • Other job duties as assigned

Desired

 

  • 4-year bachelor’s degree in legal studies or commensurate courses preferred, post-graduate paralegal training a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years of corporate paralegal experience; two years public or private sector firm experience desired
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and provide legal analysis for executive management and business operations leaders
  • Extremely professional with a high level of maturity, discretion and adherence to confidentiality
  • Experience in the transportation and logistics industries preferred
  • Experience using a CLM or related tool to administer contracts
  • Excellent communication skills—verbal and written
  • Solid understanding of contract language and legal principles 
  • Effective time management skills; ability to handle high volume workload and time-sensitive requests
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Ability to work well with all levels of management and staff, as well as outside clients and partners
  • High level of proficiency in using office equipment and in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Flexible, self-starter and quick learner
  • High degree of initiative; service and detail oriented
  • Team player; in-office position

 

 

Location

 

This is an hybrid role based in Charlotte, NC.

 

No travel is anticipated.
