The Attorney Litigation Coordinator 4 will perform specialized senior level legal assistance to the Vice President & General Counsel in providing legal services by handling the most complex/diversified lawsuits, claims, contracts and other legal assignments; monitor/coordinate Division case Load; assist MLGW Division attorneys and outside counsel. Inform Vice President & General Counsel aware of case status and train assigned employees. ESSENTIAL DUTIES\: Supervise, direct, train, advise, assist and act as primary resource for MLGW attorneys, outside counsel, paralegals, medical services, support staff and/or legal
students; review and approve proposed contracts and legal documents. Based on laws or facts, determine the method of investigation, its extent, legal sufficiency of evidence, applicable laws and the basis and method of settlement. 

If settlement is not indicated, determine method of defense at law or equity in the court; direct investigations by Claims Department and others as necessary in cases involving potential litigation. Negotiate contracts and settlements within defined parameters with insurance representatives, lawyers and various other parties. Draft/prepare legal pleadings, contracts, memoranda, briefs, deeds and other legal documents. Interview and take depositions of witnesses; conduct pre-trial conferences. Perform legal research on pending cases and current problems. Render legal services and opinions of rights, obligations and privileges for Division employees as requested; and keep up to date with new/revised laws, compliance standards, and regulations. Perform other duties as directed.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Must have passed the State of Tennessee Bar Examination and be licensed to practice in the state of Tennessee.
A valid driver's license from state of residence is required.

EDUCATION

Juris Doctorate Degree is required.

EXPERIENCE

6 to 8 years of comparable experience in the practice of law. -OR Internal applicants must have 2 years of experience as an Attorney 3 and meet
all other career ladder requirements for advancement.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Must successfully complete Supervisor Assessment Center training within 3 months of hire. Physical Demands\: Requires sedentary work involving standing or walking for brief periods, exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular basis; and some dexterity in operating office equipment.
