
- Job Summary
Provides quality customer service and administrative assistance while performing the duties of a clerk in the Municipal Court, including preparing, reviewing, processing, and monitoring criminal cases filed in the Municipal Court.
- Essential Functions
1. Provides excellent customer service in person and by telephone.
2. Receives, classifies, compiles and produces regular daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reports of court activities.
3. Processes and/or posts and reconciles cash receipts daily, assists with discrepancies analysis and provides receipt reports for use by supervisor.
4. Checks completeness and mathematical accuracy of standard court transactions and receipts, making simple adjustments after consultation and agreement by supervisor.
5. General office duties include, but are not limited to processing payments, scanning, filing, preparing and reviewing dockets and corresponding by e-mail and fax.
6. Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.
7. Regular and timely attendance is required for this position.
8. Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers, and others in the course of daily work.
- Required Skills

• Ability to accurately process payments and reconcile cash drawer.
• Ability to type 30 wpm and 10 key by touch.
• Knowledge and skill in the use of standard software (Microsoft applications) and general office equipment.
High school diploma or equivalent plus two years of previous customer service, clerical, and cash-handling experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Previous experience in a Municipal Court is preferred. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred, but not required.
Must complete and maintain certification for Texas Crime Information Center/National Crime Information Center (TCIC/NCIC) and Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (TLETS).Must have the ability to type 30 WPM.
Due to Criminal Justice Information Security (CJIS) requirements, the candidate must never have been convicted, put on court-ordered community supervision, or probation for any criminal offense above the grade of Class B misdemeanor or a Class B misdemeanor within the last ten years from the date of the court order. Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Deferred Adjudication, or Felony Conviction are permanent disqualifiers.
Must pass a Federal/National criminal background check and credit check. Must have a valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record as defined by City policy.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to speak and communicate clearly is required. This job requires the ability to work in an office environment where the noise level is usually moderate.
