Description
Legal Assistant
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, proofread, format, revise, and manage legal correspondence and documents using our document management system.
- Handle document reproduction tasks, including printing, scanning, copying, and maintaining client files.
- Support client billing processes, including time entry, proofreading, and sending invoices.
- Communicate with clients and team members via email and regular mail to resolve questions and coordinate information.
- Provide administrative support to multiple attorneys, including scheduling and expense reporting.
- Conduct conflict checks and open new client/matter files in the time and billing system.
- Provide backup coverage for the receptionist and other support staff as needed
Qualifications
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Education: Associate degree, High School Diploma, GED Equivalent, or industry-specific certifications.
- Organization and Multitasking: Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to Detail: Ensuring precision in proofreading documents, filing, and meeting deadlines.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with attorneys, clients, and external parties.
- Legal Knowledge: Familiarity with legal terminology, court systems, and document requirements.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite, legal tools (e.g., case management systems, e-filing platforms, document management systems), and office equipment.
- Professionalism: Maintain discretion and confidentiality when dealing with sensitive client and case information.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to anticipate attorneys’ needs and proactively address issues.
Hybrid Work Model:
Employees are expected to work onsite three days per week and may work remotely up to two days per week, subject to meeting specific eligibility and performance criteria. New employees should be prepared to work on-site five days a week during a four- to six-week onboarding period.
