Description

Position Overview: The Corporate Paralegal provides essential support to the Legal Department by managing various legal tasks and administrative duties. We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Paralegal to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will support attorneys in various corporate legal matters. This role requires excellent organizational skills, a strong command of Microsoft 365 and Smartsheet, a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze claims and prepare reports regarding same.

  • Draft, review, and manage legal documents such as claim documents, medical and other records.

  • Maintain professional communication with vendors, provide updates on claim progress, and gather necessary information from internal and external sources.

  • Organize and maintain electronic files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date, and all documents are properly labeled and stored.

  • Perform data entry tasks to update client information and claims files.

  • Manage the Legal Department calendar, including scheduling deadlines.

  • Assist Legal Department in obtaining discovery materials for outside counsel and internal investigations.

  • Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing claims records, and organizing documents.

  • Ensure all actions are in compliance with legal standards and ethical guidelines.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

  • Proficiency in using document management systems.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in all work performed.

  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.

  • Experience with proofreading documents for grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors.

  • Previous experience in an administrative or personal assistant role is preferred.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in legal studies or related field; paralegal certification preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a paralegal or in a legal support role.

  • Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, ability to multitask and prioritize, proficiency in Microsoft 365 and, in particular, SharePoint.

  • Knowledge: Understanding of legal terminology, processes, and documentation requirements.

The paralegal will work in a professional office setting, collaborating closely with attorneys in the Legal Department. The ability to maintain confidentiality and attention to detail is essential.
