You'll be at the forefront, ensuring legal compliance for our growing business, managing the legal aspects of commercial collections, enforcing financing agreements, handling disputes, and ensuring compliance with all applicable relevant laws and regulations. You will also be expertly negotiating contracts and various other agreements, and offering invaluable strategic advice on a variety of legal matters relevant to a rapidly growing commercial finance business.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Associate Corporate Counsel to join our legal team. The successful candidate will be involved in and manage the legal aspects of commercial collections, enforcing financing agreements, handling disputes, and ensuring compliance with all applicable relevant laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have expertise in various B2B transactions, commercial finance, and collections litigation. The candidate will also negotiate contracts and other agreements, and provide strategic commercial, compliance, and regulatory advice across the organization. The candidate will work in person at our corporate office located in Coconut Grove and will be asked to occasionally travel to the Dominican Republic.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft and review demand letters, settlement agreements, and other legal documents and filings related to collection litigation.
  • Initiate and oversee collection litigation efforts, including filing lawsuits, handling court proceedings, and negotiating settlements.
  • Work closely with internal collections and legal teams, external counsel, and third parties to optimize recovery strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws governing commercial collections.
  • Conduct research and advise the business on legal risks related to collections, and develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Analyze and negotiate contracts and agreements to identify potential risks and provide recommendations and counsel.
  • Stay up to date with changes in laws, regulations, and industry best practices to provide accurate and timely legal advice.
  • Assist Company’s Compliance Department to assist in the development and implementation of company policies and procedures to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.


Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a degree from a U.S. accredited law school.
  • Admission to Florida state bar required (must be in good standing).
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • 3+ years of experience in commercial collections, litigation, and B2B law.
  • Strong knowledge of business finance and collections law and compliance.
  • Experience managing litigation, negotiating settlements, and enforcing judgments.
  • Must have a strong sense of urgency and adapt quickly to a fast-paced corporate environment.
  • Detail-oriented when preparing filings and support letters.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Will report directly to Chief Legal Officer & Corporate Secretary and work alongside other attorneys, business partners, leaders, and staff.
  • Has worked in the Miami-Dade judicial system.
  • Material experience in consumer finance and/or consumer lending regulatory matters a plus.
  • Full time on-site in our Coconut Grove office
