JOB SUMMARY

The Managing Attorney (hereinafter “MA”) manages the Attorneys for the state of California. Broadly, the MA sets the expectation for, and manages to, a high-performance culture in the offices assigned. Part and parcel to the foregoing is an adherence to the Firm’s values and Code of Conduct, which includes, but is not limited to, maintaining integrity and achieving results for the Firm and its clients.

The MA is primarily responsible for legal operations conducted in and the performance of assigned state litigation practice. The MA oversees and assists the respective Attorneys in fostering a friendly, productive, and engaging environment; training, supervising, developing, and managing attorney and non-attorney staff; and assuring that reasonable procedures are in place to reasonably assure that subordinate attorneys and non-attorney staff are following the rules of professional conduct. At all times, the MA will ensure the ethical representation of clients while endeavoring to maintain and bolster the client and the Firm’s engagements with consumers, courts and legal communities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with the COO, CEO, Legal Administrative Manager, and Attorney's in the state of California to evaluate production data and caseload production needs to proactively track State practice trends and goals.
  • Communicate Firm production and audit expectations to staff, by managing and delivering on those expectations.
  • Meet regularly with Firm Management to discuss, analyze, implement, and manage State office needs and goals.
  • Work collectively with Firm Management to evaluate data to proactively correct and mitigate any performance impediments.
  • Routinely extract and analyze data sets to reduce costs and improve processes.
  • Prepare, review and analyze routine performance reports for Firm Management.
  • Develop expertise with client scorecards and champion process/personnel improvements to meet and exceed legal performance goals to secure more Firm market share.
  • Participate on client calls, as required, and ensure appropriate and timely handling of client and business demands.
  • Communicate with clients in a responsive manner to maintain and further develop client relationships.
  • Work collaboratively with the Firm Management in order to timely address Legal performance, corrective action and client business demands (e.g., client performance calls, performance reports, audits, directives, etc.).
  • Research and interpret laws, rulings, and regulations and formulate legal opinions for review by Firm Management.
  • Attend continuing education classes, webinars, and seminars to remain current and well-informed of any local, state or federal changes in the law, rules of court or court procedures.
  • Train, oversee and mentor Attorney staff in the execution of all legal pleadings, preparation for and arguing court proceedings.
  • Proactively identify and resolve personnel issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Qualified, licensed attorney in the state of California.
  • Experience in the consumer collection litigation with advanced knowledge and thorough understanding of the legal regulatory framework of the industry. -Preferred, but will train.
  • Ability to manage employees.
  • In-depth understanding of state and federal consumer protection laws. -Preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of client requirements and adherence associated with legal support functions.
  • Ability to collaborate with other employees to utilize resources and knowledge of others in identifying high quality solutions.
  • Ability to identify strong talent and build individual and management capability.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to effectively manage priorities to meet business requirements and deadlines in dynamic and fast paced environment.
  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to drive and motivate other employees to achieve results.
  • Ability to influence and inspire action.
  • Ability to communicate project and status updates to team and cross-functionally to ensure understanding.
  • Excellent strategic and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills across a broad spectrum of attorney and non-attorney recipients including all levels within the organization and external.

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based bonus and commission.

Base Salary Range

$105,000-135,000 (Base) + Bonus/Commission Potential

TRAVEL – This position may require traveling to courts.
