Position Summary
Our Patent Department plays a core role in the organization and includes over 30 highly skilled US and EP patent attorneys located in Wilmington DE, Washington DC, Conshohocken PA, and France (Paris and Rennes). The department provides patent support to our Research sites, in the United States, Canada and Europe, collaborating actively with the Research and Innovation teams to protect high value inventions, reading on standards or products. The department also provides full support to our licensing and litigation teams and is focused on strategic portfolio management in support of corporate objectives.
InterDigital is currently looking for a talented patent attorney to join our Patent Department. The patent attorney will manage a portfolio of patent assets in wireless communications covering multiple jurisdictions.
The selected candidate will be responsible for patent prosecution for part of a global patent portfolio and will support the licensing strategy of Interdigital by building a portfolio of high licensing value.

Responsibilities
Prosecuting a global patent portfolio across multiple jurisdictions
Collaborating with inventors, technical experts and patent portfolio management, licensing and litigation teams
Preparing and filing patent applications including provisional, non-provisional, PCT, continuation, divisional, and reissue patent applications
Strategically developing and managing patent families to bring value to InterDigital’s corporate licensing programs
Mapping claims to standards and products in line with InterDigital’s strategy on standard and product-oriented licensing
Reviewing and guiding the work of less experienced patent attorneys/agents in technical domain, including mentoring and training as necessary; serving as a lead attorney for a small group of counsel
Other responsibilities may include assisting in the preparation of Standards Settings Organization (SSO) patent declarations, evaluating patent properties in connection with potential acquisitions and divestitures, and assisting licensing and litigation teams in assertion efforts
Qualifications:
The potential candidate will possess the following:
8+ years experience as a US patent attorney
Significant experience preparing and prosecuting US and foreign patent applications in wireless communications through work at a reputable law firm and/or through in-house positions; proficient in all aspects of US patent prosecution
A JD from an accredited law school and membership in good standing from at least one state bar
Registration to practice before the USPTO
BS or higher degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or another closely related technology area relevant to InterDigital’s business activities
Experience in the field of wireless communication; working knowledge of wireless standards (3GPP, IEEE 802.11, etc.) and/or experience in standards-based prosecution
Previous experience working with foreign counsel
US Inter Partes Review (IPR) experience and patent litigation experience is a plus
Previous experience in a law firm for managing patent prosecution for a large cellular company is a plus
Previous experience supervising or reviewing work of junior patent attorneys/agents is a plus
An aptitude for learning new and complex technology
Ability to take initiative and work independently, while frequently collaborating with a broader team
Ability to communicate at all levels within the organization and possession of a global mindset
Location: One of our US East Coast office locations in PA, DE, DC or NY – Remote or Hybrid options are available in certain locations.

A reasonable estimate of the current salary range specific to NY, CA, DC is $135,000 - $243,000 /annually + discretionary incentive bonus, benefits and may include other forms of compensation components such as long-term incentives. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
