Job Title: Eviction Attorney

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Eviction Attorney to join our team, specializing in residential evictions throughout the Metro Atlanta area. This attorney will handle all aspects of the eviction process, including but not limited to, filing cases, following up on pending matters, representing our interests in court, negotiating stipulations, settlements, and filing for writs of possession. The role will also involve light contract review for vendor agreements as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Eviction Process Management:
- Prepare and file all necessary documents for initiating eviction proceedings.
- Manage the entire eviction process, including case strategy, document preparation, and maintaining communication with all involved parties.
- Represent the company in court, including presenting evidence, cross-examinations, and making oral arguments.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal landlord-tenant laws.
- Handle tenant stipulations and settlement agreements.
- File writs of possession and coordinate with sheriff departments when necessary.
- Provide legal counsel to property management teams on eviction-related matters.
- Court Appearances:
- Attend all court hearings, including dispossessory, status conferences, and motion hearings.
- Provide status updates and detailed case summaries after each hearing.
- Contract Review and Compliance:
- Review and draft vendor contracts, ensuring legal accuracy and that terms align with company policies and legal requirements.
- Provide counsel on contract-related disputes and advise on risk mitigation strategies.
- Communication & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of all case activities, including filings, correspondences, and court documents.
- Regularly update internal teams on case status and outcomes.
- Respond to client inquiries and provide regular status updates.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the state of Georgia.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience specializing in landlord-tenant law and residential evictions.
- Strong knowledge of Georgia eviction laws, local court procedures, and compliance requirements.
- Proven experience in litigation and a high degree of comfort in courtroom settings.
- Experience with contract review and vendor negotiations is preferred.
