Job Description

As a Paralegal you are not only the gatekeeper of our clients experience, you are also the project manager of their case. As a Paralegal, you will work closely with your Quarterback Attorney and Paralegal Manager to take a proactive position in ensuring cases are moving forward efficiently as well as upholding our commitment to provide exceptional service. 


A fundamental part of providing exceptional service is through the development of strong relationships with our clients. By listening to our clients’ needs, providing updates on case, following up and following through, setting attorney/client calls we work to build trust through professionalism and empathy.  


Paralegal performance is measured by their Big 3 KPI’s (Closing, Client Happiness and Minimizing case timeframe).  Paralegals are responsible for obtaining pertinent information regarding a case from various parties includes, clients, witnesses, adjusters, etc. and maintaining up to date records in Needles.  


As a “project manager,” Paralegals are responsible for delegating and assigning talks to support staff as well as managing the time frame in which duties are completed.  Additionally, Paralegals are responsible for calendaring and monitoring important dates such as statue of limitations and deadlines (both internal and external).

Job Details: 

    Manage own case load of 55-65 cases. 

    Assist with case planning/development.

    Review documents, including but not limited to: police reports, witness statements, medical records and bills, expert opinions. 

    Interview clients about accident details and injuries.

    Prepare legal correspondence. 

    Review files assigned by manager and make sure projects are completed accurately and timely and resolve conflicts as needed.

    On a case-by-case basis finalizing pending tasks for files that need special attention. 

    Assist in file transfers. 

    Assist with assigned projects given by manager via check list items TDO.

    Check in with 2 or 3 employees for case close out goals.

    Other duties as assigned.


Education:

    Highschool Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree or equivalent preferred

    Paralegal certificate or other relevant legal education is preferred.

Skills:

    Highly Proficient in time management

    Ability to work independently and collaborate with other paralegals.

    Proven ability to multi-task.

    Strong Attention to detail skills.

    Proven ability to prioritize conflicting tasks and deadlines.

    High levels of adaptability

    Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written

    Able to start file from pre-lit to trial, preferred but not necessary.

    Able to handle high volume case load, not limited to collecting medical records

    Preparing disbursement sheets, be familiar with lien issues and balance verification practices

    Handle property damage claims. 

    Draft medical summaries, demands, settlement forms

    Preferred but not necessary, draft complaints, pleadings, disclosures, discovery, etc.  

    Ability to understand complex legal issues and cases and write about them clearly and accurately.   

    Preferred but not necessary, knowledge of service of process procedures & docketing systems.

    Preferred but not necessary E-filing; State and Federal

    Excellent interpersonal skills

    Able to multi-task/set priorities while meeting deadlines.

    Notary Public

Experience: 

    5+ years of paralegal experience, pre-lit and litigation experience but not necessary, legal assistant, customer service, administrative support, or call center experience preferred


Expected Work Hours: 

This is a fulltime leadership position. The position may require extended work hours at times depending on scope of work.


Expected Work Setting: 

This is a sedentary position requiring long periods of time in a seated position working in front of computer screen. This position is a hybrid position, requiring a minimum of 3 days onsite and attendance at all employee events, meetings and trainings .


Physical Demands:

This position requires extended periods of time working with computer equipment such as keyboard, mouse  and screens. Minimal physical demands are required but may have occasional lifting, twisting, bending, pulling. Extended periods of sitting will occur due to the sedentary nature of the role.
