Looking for a Deputy General Counsel to join one of the fastest growing Health & Wellness companies in the USA. This role will be fully in-house and will report directly into the GC. This person must have extensive experience in contract negotiations for early stage brands!
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic legal advice to the General Counsel and other senior leadership on complex legal matters, emerging issues, and policy decisions - with leadership in the areas of healthcare regulations, privacy considerations, and related compliance and risk management efforts.
- Interpret and implement applicable laws, regulations, and policies
- Review of digital content for legal compliance and cooperation with content team, with an emphasis on healthcare regulations.
- Draft, negotiate, and provide counsel on various B2B agreements bearing on business partnerships, vendor/provider relationships, and technology licensing, among others - with a particular emphasis on issues concerning healthcare, digital technology, and privacy.
- Assist with implementing policies and practices and addressing legal matters bearing on employees and consultants.
- Serve as point-of-contact for legal matters with third-party partners and legal adversaries.
- Represent the company in high-level meetings, legal disputes/litigation, and administrative proceedings.
- Remain abreast of applicable changes to laws, regulations, and rulings in the spaces of healthcare and privacy and provide counsel based on those changes.
- Assist with drafting/reviewing regulatory and/or legislative proposals.
- Interact with outside counsel on behalf of th company regarding various legal issues.
- Act as a liaison between the legal department and other departments or external parties
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from a well-respected law school and state bar admission.
- At least 6-10 years of relevant legal practice
- Extensive experience, ideally subject matter expertise, at the intersection of healthcare and privacy in a digital context.
- Superlative analytical, communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Willingness to take initiative and primary responsibility as the second attorney at one of the fastest growing healthcare technology companies in the world.
