The District Court Division, Judicial District 5, is seeking a qualified candidate to perform a variety of administrative and case management functions for the Chief District Court Judge. This position will work closely with the District Attorney's Office in Onslow County.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Recruit, train, supervise, and coordinate mentors.

  • Participate fully as a Veterans Treatment Court team member, committing himself or herself to the program mission and goals and work as a full partner to ensure their success.

  • Assist with obtaining incentives and other needs of the participants in appropriate non-court settings as part of the Veterans Treatment Court team.

  • Is knowledgeable of addiction, alcoholism and pharmacology generally and apply that knowledge to suggest responses.

  • Is knowledgeable of gender, age and cultural issues that may impact the veteran's success.

  • Develop veteran mentor's resource strategy to acquire funding. Write grant applications and manage the veteran mentor's budget. Create opportunities to obtain funding and build linkages by supporting veterans in community outreach and educational activities.

  • Participate in the planning process to create and memorialize program eligibility standards, operating procedures and rules. Assist in the development of the client contract, confidentiality releases and entry procedures. Create memoranda of understanding and linkage agreements.

  • Recruit mentors and create mentoring policies.

Must have current NC Driver's License.

Salary
  • $24,122 - $30,185/year
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Knowledge of: establishing secured information and filing of each Veteran in the program; HIPPA and confidentiality requirements of Veteran Treatment Court; and is experienced in developing training workshops for mentors. Knowledge of the unique cultural, economic and social aspects of the military service population; and grant coordination and grant management.

Skills in: MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, computer and standard office machines operation.

Ability to: solve problems analytically; maintain records, files, and reports; coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; maintain cooperative working relationships with court staff and individuals outside the judicial branch; develop and foster a spirit of teamwork to improve the quality of work teams and committees; and bring people from different agencies together to accomplish the goals of the program.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Graduation from high school or equivalent.

Management prefers candidates who have been honorably discharged or retired veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces.
