Join the City of South Jordan as a Full-Time Legal Assistant!

Are you organized, detail-oriented, and interested in supporting legal services that impact your community? The City of South Jordan is seeking a Full-Time Legal Assistant to join our Legal Department. In this vital role, you'll assist the Office of the City Attorney by performing a range of clerical and legal support duties that help keep city operations running smoothly.

What You'll Do:

  • Support city litigation and legal transactions by creating and maintaining case files.
  • Prepare legal documents such as briefs, motions, and memoranda for court and city meetings.
  • Track and report statistics including screenings, pre-trials, and court appearances.
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for the Office of the City Attorney-answering phones, responding to inquiries, and greeting visitors.
  • Provide clerical support such as calendar management, meeting coordination, mail distribution, and notary services.
  • Assist with department budget tracking, travel arrangements, training coordination, and license management.
  • Act as Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC) and maintain high levels of confidentiality at all times.

Who You Are:

  • A high school graduate or equivalent (Associate degree preferred).
  • Experienced in office or legal administrative work-at least 6 months is required.
  • Comfortable learning legal ethics and municipal law within your first 6 months.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and capable of quickly learning new programs (e.g., eProsecutor, Xchange, Evidence.com).
  • A strong communicator with excellent grammar, organizational skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Capable of working independently under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Professional, reliable, and ready to support a team that serves the public interest.
